Winter Break

Last Blog Week 10

I am so excited for winter break you have no idea. I will be worry free for a month and will have all the time in the world. I have been planning my month out so far. I plan on working at least 5-6 hours a day for hopfully 5 days a week. That way I will be making between 250 to 300 dollars a week. Which is awesome for me because I will be spending about 150 dollars on everyone for Christmas. I can't wait to go to work and make some money so I can buy the things I want. I hardly ever get to buy things I want/need. I love to go into cabelas and spend money but once I open my wallet later I then get sad. I hope I don't get sick over break becuase I haven't been sick lately. It will be just my luck though that I get sick or something happens from preventing my plans from happening.I hate being sick because I feel like I could be getting so much done but I just can't. Anyways, I just really hope that break goes the way I plan and I will miss Shelby and Jeff but I know I will be seeing them around school. I really hope that this break we are getting doesn't go by fast like most do. I plan on playing some basketball and mainly doing the things that I want. I never get enough me time and hopfully over break I will get that. I really didn't enjoy college to much. I honestly would rather work instead of school but I know school is the right choice. I just hope I can keep working hard at school and not give up. I can't wait to graduate and find a job that I enjoy and making some money. I hope Shelby and Jeff have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year and they are both safe. :)

School

Blog Post 9
I'm going to write this blog post about school in general. Many kids don't like school and never will. I feel that school is somewhat compareable to work. Kids go to school for about 8 hours a day and come home with homework so sometimes it's over a fulls day of work. Many kids enjoy school however, I enjoyed school for one reason and that was friends. I really miss my friends and the good times we had. I really miss football and all of my classmates. I haven't really found college to be all that fun or exciting. In my opinion it's almost more boring than high school. The only good thing about it is that you can choose your classes and you have the option of doing what you want to do instead of taking required classes. Another aspect of going to college would be the lack of money and time. I realized that high school was so nice and everything was handed to me. When going to college you have to work for everything and really work yourself. You need money in which people need to work and go to school at the same time. Many people when going to school don't find time to do what they like. People don't realize how nice high school is until they are done and over with it. I really miss high school alot and when I talk to my friends about old memories I feel like an old person. I really hope I learn to enjoy school sometime soon because right now it seems like school is nothing special to me right now. I just hope soon I will find what field I want to go into and start my life out. I really want to get a good job and a nice house with some land to hunt on but none of it would be possible if I didn't have education. Education is the key now days to getting anywhere in life.

Celebration After Touchdown

Blog 8
A high school student from a small school in the state of Washington was penalized for kneeling to the ground and pointing to the sky. It may have taken but a second and the ref threw a flag. The ref said he was drawing attention to himself and you're not supposed to do that. The boy simply said he wasn't trying to show off or bring attention to himself he was just simply thanking God. In the NFL people have been started to get fined for many reasons and players are getting sick of it. Many plaers do a dance or point to the sky. Some have used props and have been fined for doing so. I know of kids that have been cocky and flaunted before but there is a difference. If someone wants to simply kneel and point to the sky znd have it not be a big deal then fine, but if someone was to spike the ball or do some other obsence gesture then I think they deserve to be penalized. After the young man got penalized, the fans went crazy and started to yell and yell at the ref. I feel that the NFL and many other sports are getting to serious with some things. They clearly haven't drawn the line well enough on some things. For instance, last week 2 players got into a fist fight on the field and each was fined $25,000. A few weeks before that a player accidentaly went helmet to helmet with another player and was fined $50,000. I feel this to be really unfair. I think that people need to start letting the game be played like it was back in the day and many other people would watch. It's insane to watch it now because there is so many things going on that people get in trouble for that no one is the good guy. You can't find one NFL player that is a real role model because they somehow all get in trouble. I just can't stand what is happening to the game and how people get fined for things that are stupid and childish, and those who get in trouble for pointing to the sky.

Alcohol and College Students

Blog Post 7
Today in Wellness class we had a guy come in and talk about alcohol and the affects it has on college students. Wisconsin is by far the worst state for people who can consume the most alcohol. Wisconsin has more bars on one street than any other state. We have students that learn from our parents to drink. It's considered normal to get drunk at least once a week for college students. I personally don't really enjoy drinking. When I was younger I used to drink to fit in and I thought it was a lot of fun and really had good times. I have grown up over the years and realized that there are more fun things to do with my time and I don't need to fit in. I can have fun without drinking and still be popular. Wisconsin is the top state with consuming brandy and in the top 3 for consuming vodka and beer. Over the years college students seem to get more and more riskier when it comes to drinking. Many students have drown in the Mississippi over the recent years and college students are convinced that there is someone taking the people to the river and pushing them in. Students are to bull headed to think and realize that it's the alcohol that makes people make stupid decisions. In La Crosse students have volunteered to help make sure there aren't more river drownings. Over the years many people have been saved from going in the river because they honestly are lost and don't know where they are going. Ever since these people have been volunteering there hasn't been a drowning. I hope that I don't become an alcoholic and ruin my life. THere is a family history of alcoholics and I hope I don't become one.

Opening Weekend of Deer Season

Blog Post 6
The opening weekend of deer season was not a very promising one for most people. The weather condidtions were not to what is considered normal this time of year and the deer population is down. I personally only saw 2 deer opening day and they were over a hundred yards away on a dead sprint. I shot at a coyote 4 times and missed but they are pretty hard to hit sometimes. The next day it was really foggy and it was so hard to see. Another kid and I went hunting together and I tried to get some deer to go to him. The deer of course went the other way and we never saw them. We ended up hunting with 5 other guys and did some drives with them. We ended up seeing 5 does and I never got a shot at one of them. I tried to put the other guys in a spot so they would get some shooting and they did but they never hit one of them. I was so mad because I didn't get a shot at any of them and they fact that I was busting my ass to get someone a deer. I know the numbers are down this year from last but we need to try harder to get some meat on the table. I know a lot bigger bucks are being shot this year becuase the corn was still standing last year which gave them an easy place to hide until the season was over. I just hope that next year I get to do some more bow hunting so I can shoot the bucks before gun season comes because so far 2 of the bucks I have on camera have been shot. I just hope this week and next weekend bring me more luck or else I will have to hit muzzelloader season hard. I just hope sometime this week I get a shot at a deer. We got 19 deer last year and not one person in our group of 5 have got a deer yet.

Airborne Deer Injures Family

Weekly Blog Entry 5

A Minneapolis couple were driving when an oncoming car hit a little buck and the deer became airbore. The deer then went through the windsheild and right on through the back window. The father, who was driving, got several broken bones in his face and the wife in the passenger seat only got a few scatches and bruises. The 17 year old daughter who was in the back seat got a broken cheek bone along with a broken nose. These types of stories are rare but can be very serious.
I have a few friends that have hit deer and done some serious damage to their cars. I hit a deer with my car during the winter time and knocked one side of his rack off. He was a little buck but I slammed on the brakes and jumped out of my car to run after him. I was going to kill him if I would have had a chance. I didn't even care about the car because it was a junker. One of my friends hit a deer with thier crotch rocket going 80 miles per hour and still managed to keep the bike up. He totaled the bike but managed to be lucky enough to get away with a few scratches. The deer was almost split in half after the accident.
I feel that there were less deer accidents this year because there aren't as many deer in the woods anymore. People should still learn to be careful when driving and keep a close eye out for them. The rut is the time when the most deer get hit by cars because the bucks don't think about anything except that doe.
I have heard many stories of people getting seriously injured when hitting deer. I feel that if I was to know I was going to hit a deer I wouldn't even swerve to miss it. Many people end up going into the ditch and ruining their cars more than if they were to hit a deer. I would maybe swerve a little to just hit it in the front fender but not dead on right down the middle. I would try at least to read what the deer was going to do but not go out of my way to damage my car severly.

Final on "Best of the South"

Best of the South

Have you ever done something you’ve dreamed about for years but no one else thought it was possible? Have you ever been able to accomplish your dreams or have the opportunity to do so? I can recall a time when I did. That day was one of the biggest days of my life. People predicted that the Potosi football team would beat us for sure, but we had different plans in mind. De Soto is known for having heart and determination when it comes to football. We always have a good work ethic and know when it’s time to get down to business. Many of our parents won state when they were in high school so the team wanted to make them proud. We all had fun when playing but took every play seriously. Playing Potosi was one of the days that I knew made my dad proud and knowing it was possible, we stepped on that field and played every play as if it were our last. I personally wasn’t going to let anyone of my teammates down.
My senior year of football was my first real year of starting football on the varsity level. I never really had a chance during my junior year to prove myself against the other quarterback but since he was a senior and I was a junior I would have to wait. When it got to be my turn to be quarterback I took advantage of it to the fullest. Before the season started I knew we would have a great team. We are known for having a strong running game but I knew this year we would be passing the ball a lot more. The coach and my teammates had faith in me to make big plays when needed. I did make some mistakes but no one is perfect. I know though that I did my best and left it all on the line when I had to.
The season went by way too fast for all of us. We all hated two-a-days and wanted to be lazy, but we all picked each other up because we knew our team was something special. Every kid on that team knew this would be the year if any to go to state. We never really had a challenge throughout the whole season until we played a nonconference game against Belmont. We were losing 14 to 0 at halftime but we knew we could beat them, and did. We won 28 to 14. We then realized we needed to pick our game up a bit and work harder. We went into the playoffs undefeated and once again met Belmont at Level 2. This time we played at home on our new football field. We ended up going into 4 overtimes on a muddy field that wasn’t ready for such an intense game. The ball was so muddy and wet that I could hardly throw and nobody could run without falling down it was so muddy. Finally in the 4th overtime we did a trick play that we just made up in a timeout. I completed a 20 yard touchdown pass and also a 2 point conversion. Now we just had to stop them from scoring and we would win the game. On fourth down we intercepted the ball and won what I thought to be the best game I’ve ever been a part off. I thought for sure that was going to be the best game of my life. Little did I know that the next week we would make history.
Potosi was ranked number one in the state preseason rankings, and we were ranked tenth. We thought we deserved to be ranked higher because we knew that we were contenders for the state title. Many of us were a bit scared of how big and fast they were. We all hoped to play them at state and not along the way because we all thought they would give us a huge challenge. I knew that Potosi would be tough but I never expected them to be so big and fast. Belmont is in the same conference as Potosi and they wanted a second chance at them because they thought they were so cocky. I was so happy to beat Belmont but also felt bad for them at the same time because they tried so hard and never gave up after a muddy four overtime battle. Potosi was also undefeated and since they were more popular got the first seed which meant we had to play them at their home field. This is known to be a disadvantage to the opposing team but we didn’t feel that way.
It was an abnormally hot day for playing football in November. We all stepped onto the field at Potosi with butterflies in our stomachs. We were all extremely excited but nervous at the same. Their players were huge. They all looked like grown men playing football. I will never forget the opening kickoff where our running back went running down the field as fast as he could and went head to head with another kid. He knew he had a minor concussion but still wanted to play so we didn’t tell the coach. The first half went back and forth between the both of us and Potosi scored just before half time making it 7 to 0 them. We all talked at half time and we all realized that we weren’t scared of them. Yea they were big and fast but so were we. We knew we were smarter than they were and that was what was going to win us the game.
Coming out of half time we knew we were going to go home winners. We weren’t going to give up for anything. We put too much sweat, blood, and tears into the game to give up. It wasn’t until late in the third quarter that I threw a touchdown pass to one of my good friends, Andy Lee. The kick was no good so the score was 7 to 6, in favor of Potosi going into the 4th quarter. We then kicked the ball to Potosi and our defense held them, and they were forced to punt. On third and six I mad a bad decision which could have turned the game around. I thought I had a man open so I threw the ball as I was getting hit. Potosi intercepted the ball and I was devastated. I got up from the ground and saw a flag on the ground next to me which usually means it’s a holding penalty. However, it was a call against the defense for roughing the passer when a kid hit me in the head with his helmet. You’re not supposed to hit the quarterback in the helmet when tackling him which meant we got the ball back. After a sigh of relief, we continued to march down. It was once again third and long and we decided to try a screen to the left. A screen is when some of the lineman let the defenders go by them in which they try to sack me. I then have the responsibility to throw over top of the defenders to my running back in which the lineman then run down field and block people. We tried this play for the first time all season to keep it hidden from our opponents. We used this at the perfect timing in which our running back ran 50 yards for a touchdown. We then ran in the 2 point conversion to make the score 14 to 7 us. After our defense came up with another big stop on Potosi’s 25 yard line Potosi had to try and get the first down or the game would for surely be over. Potosi’s quarterback went back to pass but was sacked by 3 of our lineman. The crowd went wild. We then had the ball on Potosi’s 20 yard line. I handed the ball off to another one of the running backs and he drove his way in the end zone for a touchdown. After the extra point was good it made the score 21 to 7 us with 2 minutes left. We knew at this time that we had just won the game. After scoring that touchdown and hearing our fans going crazy, I immediately got chills. Potosi gave it one last effort to throw the ball but we intercepted it to seal the deal.
I never really looked at the crowd until we won the game. I had never seen so many people at one football game in my life. I never got nervous when I was playing, only before the game. I then realized that I led the team to a victory. I read many comments online about how we wouldn’t be able to throw against Potosi because they had such good linebackers and cornerbacks. I will admit that they stopped our running game but they couldn’t stop me from passing. I ended up completing 15 of my 21 passes and had 246 passing yards. That game was the best game of my life and I will never forget it. I had so many happy emotions from this game and knew that I made so many people proud knowing that I did my best. I felt really happy for having the community and all of my friends behind me and supporting me throughout the whole season but especially this game.
After beating Potosi we had to play Catholic Central for the second year in a row to make it to state. We ended up losing that game by a few touchdowns which was so disappointing but we all gave it our best. We were able to say that we did our best and that simply wasn’t good enough and that was o.k. When I look back I don’t like to think of losing to Catholic Central, but rather the beating of Potosi. I was just glad to be a part of something so special and unique. I grew up with all of the guys on that team and made many memories with them that I will never forget. A state championship would have been nice, but I’ll take a remarkable season with my friends over that any day.

Randy Moss Is Let Go

After being with the Vikings for only four weeks Randy Moss is being let go from the team. Randy wasn't happy with the way that he wasn't getting the ball enough. He was all excited about coming back to Minnesota when the New England Patriots traded him for a thrid round draft pick. He was also fined 25,000 dollars for not speaking to the press before the game against the Patriots. When let go from the Vikings he said he missed playing with the Patriots and hopes to go back there to get some playing time in. In his time with the Vikings he had 17 catches for 2 touchdowns and 174 total yards. He enjoyed his time there but didn't agree with some of the calls in the game or the lack of touches he had on the ball. Many of the Patriots players wanted Randy to come back and play for them, but no one knows as of right now on what he will do.
Many people have different opinions about Randy Moss. I feel that he is a really good, hardworking athlete, but he is to much of a drama queen. He always feels that an offense should revolve around him and that every team should fear how good he is. I agree this to some degree but he seems to try to hard to stick out. He should try and keep under the radar and help the other recievers around him by taking some of the pressure from the defenders. I hope that some team will be able to harnass his bigheadedness and make him into a better more team player.

Blog Post 3 Cougars in Wisconsin

There as recently been an animal that has been causing a lot of issues in the state of Wisconsin in the past few years. People all over the state have been seeing this animal and that it has killed many of their animals and pets. The DNR has denied these many of the sightings of these animals and very little evidence has been found to prove that they are in the area. I’m talking about Cougars, other wise known as mountain lions.
Many people have been seeing these so called mountain lions all over the state. The most recent story that I have heard is from the people in Crawford County. The DNR made a statement saying they never released any cougars in Crawford county but what about the other counties in Wisconsin? Have they been doing this throughout the whole state? I have heard personally from a DNR official that they release 2 cougars in Crawford County. I heard from many people that they brought wolves in to Wisconsin to thin down the deer population because car insurance companies are tired of paying for car accidents due to deer. I feel that the wolves weren’t killing enough deer that the DNR wanted so they went and brought cougars in to take care of the over population of deer. I feel it was a smart idea, but wrong in so many ways. They never informed the local people of releasing cougars so then many of the local’s pets and animals got killed. I think the DNR didn’t want to tell the people they were releasing the cougars so that way there wasn’t a big issue over it. I really do think there are cougars around, but I also feel that there are other animals that people mistake as cougars such as, fisher, bobcat, lynx, and even cats. I just hope that the DNR realized that they shouldn’t lie to the people in Wisconsin and tell the truth. I really don’t think they should try and tell people they are trying to keep the deer population up when really they are trying to lower it.

Weekly Blog Entry 2

Head to Head

After another big helmet to helmet hit on Sunday’s game with the Falcons and Eagles, the NFL is considering on whether or not to suspend some people for their actions. It is a rule that you can’t hit a defenseless player helmet to helmet. You aren’t supposed to hit anyone helmet to helmet in that matter. It’s to likely for concussions to occur. Players need to learn the importance of being safe on the field. I know it’s a physical game but you shouldn’t be on the field to kill someone. You should be out there trying to make plays for your team but not try to harm others. Many players have gotten broken necks or other injuries that have been season ending. I feel like the NFL should try and suspend many of the people who are hitting defenseless people. I also think that the NFL should try and make safer helmet and mouth guards. I don’t care if their heads look huge and they have a hard time breathing because their mouth guards are so big. I want the players to be safe and have fun out there and not have to worry about getting hit in the head when they aren’t looking. After many people watch these games so many things go through their heads. They worry about the player and hope that he’s alright. They are less likely to want their children to play football due to all of the injuries that may occur. Once someone gets hurt from a head to head collision the game stops for about 5 to 10 minutes and people pray the people are alright. I think that there are so many alternatives to make sure people aren’t getting hurt so often in the NFL.

Playing Potosi was one of the days that I knew made my dad proud and knowing it was possible, we stepped on that field and played every play as if it were our last. I personally wasn’t going to let anyone of my teammates down.
My senior year of football was my first real year of starting football on the varsity level. I never really had a chance my senior year to prove myself against the other quarterback but since he was a senior and I was a junior I would have to wait.
The ball was so muddy and wet that I could hardly throw and everyone couldn’t run without falling down it was so muddy.
Potosi was ranked number one in the state preseason and we were ranked tenth. We thought we deserved to be ranked higher because we knew were contenders.
We all were excited but nervous at the same time for how big they looked. We all talked at half time and we all realized that we weren’t scared or them. Yea they were big and fast but so were we. We knew we were smarter than them and that was what was going to win us the game. Coming out of half time we knew we were going to go home winners. We weren’t going to give up for anything. We put too much sweat, blood, and tears into the game to give up. It wasn’t until late in the third quarter that I threw a touchdown pass to one of my good friends Andy Lee. The kick was no good so the score was 7 to 6 Potosi going into the 4th quarter. We then kicked the ball to Potosi and our defense held them which they were forced to punt. You’re not supposed to hit the quarterback in the helmet when tackling him. After scoring that touchdown and hearing our fans going crazy I immediately got chills. Potosi gave it one last effort to throw the ball but we intercepted it to seal the deal. I never really looked at the crowd until we won the game. I had never seen so many people at one football game in my life. I never got nervous when I was playing, only before the game. I then realized that I lead the team to a victory.
After beating Potosi we had to play Catholic Central for the second year in a row to make it to state. We ended up losing that game by a few touchdowns which was so disappointing but we all gave it our best. We were able to say that we did our best and that simply wasn’t good enough and that was o.k. I don’t like to think of losing to Catholic Central, I like to thing of beating Potosi. I was just glad to be a part of something so special and unique. I grew up with all of the guys on that team and made many memories with them that I will never forget. I state championship would have been nice but I’ll take a remarkable season with my friends over that any day.

Weekly Blog Entry 1

Miners in Chile
Dylan Vassar

I have read some reports on the situation that is taking place in Chile. I feel really bad for those people that are stuck beneath the earth’s surface. I can’t believe that they have been alive for 3 months down there. I have read that the people down there are all fine and no one is injured, but some may have some psychological issues I heard that 33 miners were down there and that all 33 have been taken out. I would hate to be the last guy down there because I would be scared being all alone so far beneath the surface. I heard that the Chilean people have put a 500 pound capsule down into the ground that has oxygen and a way to communicate with the people at the top. A person about 6 foot 4 inches or smaller would be able to fit in the capsule.
I’m glad that so many people are willing to help and support the Chilean people. I feel like it’s time like these when people need our help the most that the rest of the world is willing to pitch in and lend a helping hand. I know that Chile is known for having many earthquakes and I’m surprised that the people that were stuck down there didn’t experience one. I guess God was in their favor through this whole situation. I’m just glad that everyone made it out alive and the miners were returned to their families safely. Many of the families have been standing by and praying for their loved ones to come up the capsule alive. In one story I read, a miners wife gave birth to a baby girl and she named her “Hope.” When I hear stories like this I always feel happy for the family that their loved one came out alive.
I have read that all of the miners that were stuck down there are all getting medical and psychological treatment. I am very claustrophobic so working 2,000 feet below the surface would be something that I would never do. I also have heart problems so I would more than likely have a heart attack from being so scared. I know that if I was stuck down there for so long that I would need some help because it would be a big impact on my life. If I was to almost die in any situation I’m sure that I would change a lot of things in my life or possibly need some help.

Video Reflection

I feel that this type of learning is something that is essential in kids lives. I think more subjects and topics should be covered through hands on activities that help kids learn in new ways. I think we get so used to learning the same way with pencil and paper and it’s simply not enough anymore. Kids learn something for about a month and forget it just as fast. I feel that students try to find the answers in things and should really be looking at things like why does it work this way or how it became to be this. Students aren’t concerned about how or why it works, they just simply look for the answer in things. I feel that if there were more activities to do that helped students learn more actively that test scores and other essentials in life would go up.
I have gone to events that have been based around this type of idea. I think Tulley is trying to keep this idea going by speaking publicly about it and getting others to help his cause. I feel that this is an amazing thing he is doing to help students learn in a new more fun way. I wish that a lot more of my classes would have been taught this way. In my experiences in school, I never received an opportunity like these kids did really. I never had the chance to learn things through building or making things on my own. I think the best way to learn is from your mistakes and doing things on your own. If I would have the choice to learn this way I would for surely take the chance in a heart beat. I would find school fun and educating in a different perspective. I have tried new ways of learning such as reading something over the internet and have found it to be quite easy and enjoyable. I find it enjoyable because if you are assigned something to finish then I can do it on my own time at home and do it comfortably.
I think that having these kids work together to do something is also another important factor in life. Schools sometimes give out assignments and give you partners to do them with, but I always felt lazy or that things weren’t fun or evenly distributed. I think just giving groups to kids, especially when the kids aren’t friends with their partners is something that shouldn’t be done. You can’t like put kids in groups and hope they become friends. You need to give them something to do that will make them work together as a team and do something fun.
I feel that all educational programs should consider watching this and seriously thinking or trying this in their schools. Perhaps their students will learn something that will stick with them. I remember some activities that I have done at school and they have seemed to stick with me over the year. I can’t even remember half of the things I learned in 7th and 8th grade but I cant remember fun learning activities in 5th grade. If schools were to try this and that their students test scores go up and they seem to recall things better in life then I think many other schools would think of do this type of teaching. I feel that schools are to worried about the money issue though to consider doing this because I’m sure the supplies would be quite a bit of money.
I felt that one thing that surprised me was that all of those plastic bags held up those kids in that video. I wish that I have been able to be a part of that because that is something that surprises me.

Labor Day Weekend

This Labor Day weekend I did a number of things. I spent most of my time with my girlfreind at her house. On Saturday, we went to Stoddard to watch the guy’s softball teams and talked with people we haven’t seen in awhile. We then came to La Crosse to get some things at Quillins for her mom. After shopping in La Crosse we went back to her house and brushed her four horses. This took awhile because the horses got into some burdocts and made their hair a mess. Sunday was a day of rest. We ended up laying around all day until I remembered I had some homework to do. It took me about three hours to finish my homework and by the time I was done it was time for me to go to sleep. Monday I went home to see my grandparents because I had heard the news that they hit a deer with their 55 chevy. The car’s fender and driver’s door was the only thing damaged. I wouldn’t doubt it if my grandpa cried when it happened because it’s such an antique and my dad restored the car for him. After visiting with them for awhile I went home and mowed the lawn for my mom just to make her happy. To end the day I watched Family Guy and drifted off to sleep. I would say that this Labor Day weekend was just another normal weekend for me.

About Me

My name is Dylan Vassar I am from Ferryville, Wisconsin. I'm attending WTC to get my generals and hopefully by the time I'm done I will know what I want to do. I just graduated from De Soto High School. I have been active in baseball, football, and basketball. I was the quarterback at De Soto and we were a game from state 2 years in a row.  My hobbies are spending time outside, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. I am taking 15 credits this semester and so far I’m not liking all of the homework I get. I don’t like La Crosse that much because I don’t like the city. I really enjoy the country and spending all of my time there. I hope to meet new people and find new friends.
